The LIONFISH® family was designed to meet the ever-growing demand
for light multi-role solutions for patrol, protection and defence of
installations. To fulfil different operational requirements, the
family comprises three 12.7 mm turrets (Ultralight, Inner Reloading
and Top), the 20 mm LIONFISH® 20 and the 30 mm LIONFISH® 30.
The LIONFISH 12.7 Ultralight
is a remotely-controlled small caliber naval gun system which stands
out for the lightest weight, the smallest deck interface.
With a weight of less than 180 kg, the Ultralight turret is the
lightest in the family. It has minimal impact on the platform on
which it is installed and has an elevation range of -20° to +70°,
allowing it to engage surface targets, drones and helicopters.
LIONFISH® Ultralight can also be used on land vehicles or
installations and on vessels weighing less than 10 tonnes. This
model has also already been successfully tested on several uncrewed
vessels.
The LIONFISH 12.7 Inner Reloading
is a remotely-controlled small caliber naval gun system, providing
the operator with the capability of reloading the ammunitions from
below deck in safe conditions.
Weighing less than 215 kg, the Inner Reloading turret features a
stealth cover that provides more protection from environmental
agents and makes the turret harder for enemy radar to detect. It,
too, can be integrated into land vehicles and installations.
The LIONFISH 12.7 Top
is a remotely-controlled stealth small caliber naval gun system,
conceived to meet the most demanding requirements of the ASymetric
Warfare (ASyW) due to its large magazine.
The Top turret weighs less than 300 kg and is the best performing of
the family. It offers complete coverage and boasts a high level of
stealth, plus the best cooled IR optics. It differs in that, by
offering a maximum depression range of up to -30°, it can even
engage emerging threats that get close to the hull.
The LIONFISH 20
is a remotely-controlled small caliber naval gun system
characterized by long operative range and high rate of fire. It can
fire all types of 20 x 128 mm ammunitions, prescribed by the
cannon’s manufacturer.
The 20mm model weighs less than 450 kg and features a high rate of
fire and a long operating range.
The LIONFISH 30
is a remotely-controlled small caliber naval gun system
characterized by long operative range and high rate of fire. It can
fire all types of 30 x 173 mm ammunitions, prescribed by the
cannon’s manufacturer.
The latest addition to the family, the LIONFISH® 30, is extremely
compact and light. It comes with the new electrically powered
LIONFISH® 30mm X-GUN. The latter, developed in-house and ITAR-free,
is able to use new-concept high-efficiency air burst ammunition with
preformed fragmentation which is designed to be more effective
against aerial threats such as mini and micro-sized drones. The use
of artificial intelligence optimises its simultaneous engagement of
multiple threats. The turret also features a high firing rate and a
high operating range.
Standard features across the family are modularity, a minimum need
for maintenance, and intuitive use, which greatly reduce training
requirements and help minimise lifecycle costs.
All the turrets are easy to install, even on smaller vessels,
because they do not require bridge modifications and they ensure
high precision target engagement, even in poor sea weather
conditions, thanks to complete stabilisation in elevation and
azimuth. Each turret can calculate the firing solution independently
and comes with a coaxial electro-optical unit with a high-definition
daylight camera, infrared camera and laser rangefinder for target
tracking. The 12.7 and 20 mm systems feature Leonardo-manufactured
and developed Mini Colibrì optics, which can integrate either a
better-performing cooled infrared sensor that can sight and identify
a threat at a greater distance or a cheaper uncooled infrared
sensor.
Depending on the sensor, the detection range can be up to 12 km,
with identification between 3.3 and 2.7 km.
All the turrets share a basic architecture and the same support
components for below-deck installation, starting from the control
console with a 17" touchscreen and two multi-function joysticks for
complete remote control.
LIONFISH 30
... is a remotely-controlled small caliber naval gun system
characterized by long operative range and high rate of fire.
It’s part of wider LIONFISH® remote weapon turrets family
sharing the same mechanical and electronic architecture and
the same extremely user
friendly Human Interface.
Thanks to its compact dimensions and light weight, LIONFISH®
30 allows providing very small surface vessels with the
capability of neutralizing asymmetric surface threats,
helicopters and drones, thanks to Air Burst Munition use,
besides to be usable onboard larger vessels as secondary
armament.
The LIONFISH® 30 is fitted with the LEONARDO X-GUN 30mm,
ITAR-free, feed by two ammunition boxes with 200 ready to
fire rounds.

stabilized firing coordinates by performing ballistic and target
trajectory calculations.
The Electro-Optical Director is constituted of a highly accurate
sensors suite (with an automatic tracking functionality) constituted
of a daylight camera, an IR camera and a LASER Range Finder.
The LIONFISH® 20 could be also fully controlled by the external

LIONFISH 12.7 Top
... is a remotely-controlled stealth small caliber naval gun
system, conceived to meet the most demanding requirements of
the ASymetric Warfare (ASyW) due to its large magazine. It
is used by law and military enforcement, as primary or
secondary armament, in different operative scenarios such as
border control, maritime traffic interdiction and
self-protection, even in case of threats surrounding the
ship (for example in hijacking attempts) thanks to its
elevate downwards aiming limit and dynamic performances.
The LIONFISH® 12.7 Top can be fitted with different types of
12.7 mm weapons. The weapon is feed by a 400 ready to fire
rounds magazine, compatible with a wide variety of 12.7 x 99
NATO standard ammunitions such as: AP, API, APT, APIT, M33
ball.
The aiming system is fully stabilized in elevation and
azimuth by means of powerful servo-systems in closed loop
with both two independent gyros and two tachometers for
redundancy.
All the components are fully protected by a stealth shield
to minimize the RCS and allow the operation in the most
severe environments, in addition a de-icing system can be
supplied as option.
The LIONFISH® 12.7 Top is remotely controlled through its
own Local Control Console and it is able to autonomously
determine the stabilized firing coordinates by performing

LIONFISH 12.7 inner reloading
... is a remotely- controlled small caliber naval gun
system, providing the operator with the capability of
reloading the ammunitions from below deck in safe
conditions.
The LIONFISH® 12.7 Inner Reloading is efficiently used
onboard small surface vessel, thanks to its light weight and
compact dimensions, for border control, maritime traffic
interdiction and self-protection.
The capability to be reloaded by a safe protection makes
this turret fit for an installation on the roof of small
boat as well as on top of land vehicle.
With aim to allow an easy change of platform, the LIONFISH®
12.7 Inner Reloading allows storing the installation data,
included no-firing and no-pointing zones (settable via
software), automatically retrieved at the start-up.
The LIONFISH® 12.7 Inner Reloading is fitted with a 12.7 mm
machine gun feed by a 100 ready to fire rounds magazine,
compatible with a wide variety of 12.7 x 99 NATO standard
ammunitions such as: AP, API, APT, APIT, M33 ball.
The reloading of the magazine can be carried out, in safe
conditions, from below deck, in fact a proper lamp starts
blinking as soon as the last round has been picked up from
the Ammunitions Box thus allowing the operator to link a new
Ammunitions Belt to the one still
present in the gun.
The aiming system is fully stabilized in elevation and
azimuth by means of powerful servo-systems in closed loop
with both two independent gyros and two tachometers for
redundancy.
The LIONFISH® 12.7 Inner Reloading is remotely controlled
