The 8-cell ASROC "Matchbox" launcher for
the RUR-5 ASROC (Anti-submarine rocket) and RGM-84 Harpoon SSM used
on many USN and other vessels. Some vessels such as the last three
Brooke class frigates (FFG 4-6), all Knox class frigates, California
class cruisers and the Spruance class destroyers had reloading
systems and up to 16 (2x8) reloads. Other classes of vessel had no
reloads. Used for: RUR-5 ASROC anti-submarine rocket RGM-84 HARPOON SSM Used on: Leahy class CG California class DLGN / CGN Spruance class DD Charles F. Adams class DDG Decatur class DDG Mitscher class DDG Farragut (Coontz) class DDG Bronstein class DE / FF Garcia class DE / FF Knox class DE / FF Brooke class DEG / FFG NOTE: the Mk-16 launcher was built under license for the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force as Type-74 ASROC launcher |
