Decatur - class Guided Missile
Destroyer (converted Forrest
Sherman class DD’s) |
Four of the Forrest Sherman class destroyers were
converted to guided missile destroyers. The fixed torpedo tubes were replaced by two Mk-32
triple torpedo tubes (12.75 inch / 324mm) , to fire Mk-46 torpedos. The ships were fitted with a Mk-16 octuple ASROC
launcher instead of the Mk-42 gun mount amidships and one Mk-13 single-arm missile launcher was installed
instead of the aft Mk-42 gun. |
