Throughout September the ship was involved in anti-piracy operations off the coast of Somalia, helping to recapture a yacht taken by pirates on September 2. At the end of 2008, the frigate Courbet was one of the ships involved in supporting merchant ships transiting the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea faced with the resurgence of piracy from Somalia. The voyage was completed sometime in May 2010. Courbet was involved in Operation Harmattan aimed at enforcing United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973 during the Libyan civil war.
