Namesake: Holger Danske was a Danish resistance group during World War II.

The group was named after the legendary Danish hero Holger Danske.

Namesake: Niels Ebbesen, Danish squire and national hero (died 1340)

 

F 339 HDMS Niels Ebbesen was used as a training ship for navel cadets, carrying up to 90 trainees.
The ship went through several refits during her service with the Royal Danish Navy.

She was decommissioned on 8 May 1963 and broken up that year at Odense, Denmark.
